How To Make Homemade Rubber Stamps

Rubber stamping can be an expensive hobby, but not if you make your own rubber stamps using this simple technique.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 15-30 minutes
Here’s How:
  1. Decide on a design for your stamp, and sketch it out on a piece of stiff cardboard.
  2. Then, gather up all of your rubber bands – fat and skinny, and cut out all of the shapes that you need for your design.
  3. Glue all of the pieces onto your cardboard, pressing down firmly to ensure they’re all the same level.
  4. Allow the glue to dry, then ink up your stamp for a test run.
  5. Correct any flaws in your design, and test again. Once you get a good print, your stamp is ready for action.
Tips:
  1. The thick bands that come on broccoli are ideal for crafting stamps.
  2. If you include text in your design, be sure to invert it. Otherwise it will print backwards.
  3. Scraps of wood can be used in place of cardboard, if you want a more permanent stamp.
What You Need:
  • Rubber bands
  • Cardboard
  • School Glue
  • Scissors
