Crockpot Apple Butter

Ingredients:

  • 4 quarts unsweetened applesauce
  • 7 C. granulated sugar
  • 1 1/3 C. brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 5 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves

Preparation:

Combine all ingredients in a 5 to 6 quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW for 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Uncover and continue cooking until excess liquid cooks away, about 5 to 8 hours. Seal mixture in hot sterilized jars and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
Makes about 8 pints.
