Recipe for Red, White and Blue Cake Bites

These tasty little cake desserts are dressed up in red, white and blue making them the perfect bite for all of our favorite patriotic holidays. Serve them on Memorial Day, July 4th, Veteran's Day, President's Day or any other time you're feeling patriotic.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 2 minutes

Total Time: 12 minutes

Yield: 4 Bites

Ingredients:

  • 1 1-inch slice of pound cake
  • 1 teaspoon butter, softened
  • 4 blueberries
  • 1 large strawberry
  • 4 mini marshmallows
  • 4 toothpicks

Preparation:

Spread butter on both sides of poundcake. Heat small, non-stick skillet over medium heat. Toast poundcake in skillet, approximately 1 minute on each side until lightly browned. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't burn.
Cut poundcake into four cubes. Remove stem and hull from strawberry and cut into four even pieces.
Push blueberry to top of each toothpick. Follow with mini marshmallow. Next, push strawberry onto the bottom of toothpicks and stick one into each cube of poundcake and serve.
