Basic Bread Dough Recipe

This is a large batch of bread dough that will make about 4 loaves of bread. This bread freezer recipe is perfect for freezing bread dough or baking and storing baked bread in the freezer.

2 Tablespoons yeast
1/2 Cup warm water
In a measuring cup mix yeast with warm water. Add a pinch of sugar. Let sit while you prepare the following.

4 Cups warm water
1/2 Cup oil
2 Tablespoon salt
2/3 Cup honey or brown sugar
In mixing bowl add warm water, oil, salt and honey or brown sugar. Mix yeast in. Start with adding 4-5 Cups whole wheat flour to mixture. Blend together. You will need a total of 6 Cups wheat flour and 2 Cups white flour. Add remaining flour 1 cup at a time. Knead dough several minutes.

Add 1 tablespoon oil in a large bowl and add bread dough. Cover and let rise until doubles. Separate into 4 parts and freeze in freezer bags. When ready to use take out of freezer the night before. Bring to room temperature and let rise again. Shape as desired and bake at 350 degrees until golden brown.
